Director: The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov
After studying Chekhov with Russian master teacher Jurij Alschitz for a long time and discovering more than I ever expected on this phenomenal playwright, I decided to seize the opportunity of the 110th anniversary of The Cherry Orchard and stage it, on the exact dates of the anniversary of its premiere at the Moscow Art Theatre. In October 2013 Jim Simpson, artistic director of The Flea Theater, accepted me as Resident Director and part of the team of this Off-Off Broadway venue. It's a very exciting development in my career and I look forward to many collaborative projects, especially now that another more spacious building is being prepared to host a brand new version of The Flea.Director/Dramatist Exchange
I was recently invited to participate in a Director/Dramatist Exchange organized by the Dramatists Guild. 15 writers are invited to meet 15 directors. They say that "over the years these Exchanges have resulted in countless lasting professional relationships crucial to a successful career in the theatre." Staged Reading: Pirandello's The Giants of the Mountain
Join me, 10 actors, and 2 visual artists Tuesday October 15 at 7:00 pm at Theaterlab for a reading of Pirandello's The Giants of the Mountain, a “myth” between fable and reality that Pirandello continued to imagine, write, and rework from 1929 to 1934. Currently scheduling auditions for the upcoming production of The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov that I will produce and direct at Theaterlab in January 2014.
